[UPDATED REVIEW] - sometimes I write a review and the company listens closely and as a result makes major changes that move their product from only one star all the way up to five stars. It's not as a result of anything they offered me, I don't accept anything to change my opinion when I write reviews. But if the product is genuinely improved, it is only fair to update my opinions. This update is because of that, and because when you receive now (regardless of any reviews you may read) is a NEW and substantially improved product.SO MUCH IMPROVEDSometimes it’s not all about how good, or not, a product is. Sometimes it’s about how that company responds to its customers’ needs. That response can come in several ways, one obvious one is customer service support. Another is warranty resolution. And yet another is simply being honest up front about the claims the make about their product. One other I can think of is when a company discovers their product isn’t as perfect as they thought it was on the drawing board or even when they did everything right and some major company like Apple changes their design at the last minute. This is about that last scenario. Stouchi introduced what I thought could have been the best stand for me to set my iPhone down on to charge it but be able to grab it whenever I wanted to. That’s not as easy as it sounds, and I went through dozens of pages of ads until I found this one. It seemed to have it all - contemporary design, rock solid, and one that took up a minimum of my desktop, night stand or end table. It was a perfect design for the iPhone model 12 Pro with the Magsafe charging capability. But then the new phone models came out and they were slightly different, in this case the size of and location of the camera lenses changed very slightly, enough so that the new models didn’t fit properly on the charging disk stand properly. Reviewers also pointed out other quirks, none of them major enough to be deal breakers but major enough for Stouchi to take notice and go back to the drawing board. They didn’t have to, these days most companies ignore customer feedback. Not this company. I was one of the people they asked for suggestions what would make it a better … correction, THE BEST, product of its kind. I offered my suggestions and they went to work implementing a series of subtle but crucial redesigns.HERE IS WHAT’S DIFFERENTWhile the form is very similar there are several things that you will notice immediately. First, it is seems a little heavier. Second, the eternally sticky bottom that so many people didn’t like has been redesigned with a similar adhesive that can be reused several times if used on a clean surface but leaves no residue and won’t remove the paint from surfaces. It’s not as easy to put into words as to simply say that what they are using now is a vast improvement over the previous adhesive.Next is the cable routing, again something that is complicated to explain but easy to just say it’s a lot better. The previous system forced the cable to make a sharp turn, and since the cable on the expensive Magsafe disk is permanently attached, if it breaks the disk is useless. The revised design removes any cause for concern about bending that fragile cable, again a simple solution resulting in a vast improvement. The last improvement is rather than use an adhesive pad to hold the disk in in holder, something that is very important otherwise the whole thing comes loose every time you pick up your phone, the simple solution is that they made the ring that holds it in place out of a grippier silicone rather than a smooth material and made it fit slightly tighter. So far the disk has never come loose when I pick up my phone but here’s a hint - if you want to be really sure just coat the back of the disk with a little bit of ordinary rubber cement. It will never come loose but if you ever want to remove it, a poke from the back with a blunt-tipped item is all it takes. As so many of us are working from home these days little conveniences in our workspace can be very important. In my creative work I like to keep my workspace as clean as possible. My monitor uses an LG Ergo stand that keeps it off my desktop. My computer is the ultra small Z2 G4 mini workstation and other than that and my keyboard and mouse my workspace is totally clear. This stand perfectly matches the dark gray colors of everything else and requires the absolute minimal space. I like it so much I plan to get two more for next to my favorite chair and next to my seat in my home theater.ATTENTION IPHONE 13 PRO OWNERSI don’t want to gloss over an improvement that was my biggest complaint about the previous version. I I own a 13 Pro, which has larger camera lenses than my previous 12 Pro. Their original design hugn up on the lip around the lenses which pushed the mount away from the charging disk. That disk is designed to work properly only if it makes full contact with the back of your phone and with it being pushed away, even slightly, the phone didn’t make an absolute contact. What they did to fix that is to reduce the height of the aluminum alloy part of the stand, and raised the height of the middle silicone part to support the phone with the larger size camera. Sounds simple, but it took a complete redesign, but the result is a perfect 100% contact between my phone and the charging disk.YES OR NOThis product started as a winning design with a few small areas of improvement. Rather than ignore them these designers listened and made it a lot better the second time around. I highly recommend it. I’ve tried so many different Magsafe holders and this one is by far the best.
