With a little care it will last a long time great as a tender I wanted the repair feature but not sure if it worked 1 battery it worked other battery it wouldn't stay on but charges itSuperLove the charger for its ease of use and results it produced. This charger is tiny and easy to use, just need to insert and charge. Also, it’s very easy to storage in the back truck of the car. Highly recommendedAbsolutely did work as advertised.I am using this as an active battery tender for my motorcycle while it's in the garage storage. The unit is clearly made in China and the instructions reflect that as well. They are very hard to understand. Basically you attach the red positive clamp to the red positive terminal on your battery then the black negative clamp somewhere on the grounded frame of the vehicle. Doing this will power the unit and you can select the type of vehicle it is attached to, then plug in the unit to the wall.Herein lies the major gripe of the unit: the length of wires. The gator clamps only extend about 18" from the base unit and the power cord is only 3' maybe! I attached the gator clips to my bike and the cables weren't even long enough to place the unit on the ground! I had to wrap the negative cable underneath the seat a little bit to wedge it and hold the unit sitting on the seat in place. Then I had to go hunt for a long enough extension cord to reach the nearest plug. I honestly don't know how safe that is to extend a tender but with such a short cord there is no other choice.Other than the short cords this unit has kept my bike charged through the winter and I guess that's what matters the most.Everything worked good and the battery charger shows the details in the LCD screen on progress. The 12 volt car battery we tested it on is a car that sits a lot during cold months and occasionally needs charging. What I did not like is when charging a 12 volt car battery it starts out at 8 amp then slowly decreases down to 1.1 amp. My battery was about 80% charged before attaching this charger and this charger ran for at least 8 hours to finish. I think this is because these newer models with a microprocessor do this. The point I wanted to make is the battery takes a lot longer to charge than older conventional non-digital ones. Also, the charger only displays in Celsius and in my opinion should have also had Farenheit.Still, this is a good charger and does what it says. It seems to have a strong case and runs only warm charging a 12 volt car battery that was 80% charged. I wasn't able to test it in repair mode because my battery is newer, doesn't show any signs of sulfating, and otherwise okay. Overall it is good value compared to many costing more.I have a van with a (formerly) dead battery.....6 months flat...uggh. I guessed the battery was toast, but...... I noticed this charger had a "repair" mode. I'm not an engineer, but thought I'd try this to see if it could coax a bit more life from the van's battery. I hooked it up, set it to "repair" mode....closed the hood (it's small enough to rest in the engine compartment...away from friends on the street) and let it go for about 12 hours. Now, the van starts right up, even if I let it set for a few days between starts. Guess it works. Great! I really like the compact size. I can carry it and use it while it is safely locked under the hood!
